A bill shepherded through the House of Representatives last week by U.S. Rep. Darren Soto to rename a Kissimmee post office for the Puerto Rican “Borinqueneers” U.S. Army regiment now is getting pushed in the U.S. Senate by Florida’s U.S. Sens.
Congressman Soto joined Valencia College leadership along with other Osceola officials and legislators to celebrate the opening of Valencia College's new campus in Poinciana – a dream made reality!
Congressman Darren Soto spoke at an event at American University, along with Reps. Mia Love (R-Utah) and Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.), as part of The Hill's Newsmaker Series: Leadership in Action. The dialogue revolved around the importance of bipartisanship in Congress and the need for Members to work together to pass crucial legislation this month.
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) dedicated its 2017 Holiday Reception to raising awareness about the situation in Puerto Rico and to benefit students in their R2L NextGen Program.
U.S. Rep. Darren Soto plans to help introduce a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives that would seek to provide comprehensive rebuilding money and resources for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands beyond what is needed to address just the devastated from Hurricanes Maria and Irma.
