SOTO ADDRESSES ST. CLOUD CITY COUNCIL AND COUNCIL MEMBERS

On Thursday, January 11th, Congressman Darren Soto visited St. Cloud's City Commission and addressed the council members.
During his visit, Representative Soto sat in on a wonderful presentation by the Army Corps of Engineers about debris and muck removal to clean-up East Lake Toho. Rep. Soto also joined the members in congratulating Council Member Donald Shroyer for being named President of the Tri-County League of Cities.
While addressing the council, Soto provided updates on Osceola County. First, he addressed the challenges and progress on Hurricane Irma relief. He also announced the appoinment of a St. Cloud High School Junior to the United States Air Force Academy. Lastly, he notified the council of the $38,000 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) that was awarded to St. Cloud's Fire Rescue Department to enhace their response capabilities.
After providing these updates, Representative Soto revealed a push for an upcoming amendment in the Farm Bill to increase technology efforts in Osceola to assist citrus greening throughout the district and Florida.
Congressman Soto will continue to meet with local elected officials of Florida's 9th Congressional District and promote collaboration between federal and local governments.
