The organizations listed below provide non-federal assistance or services to constituents residing in Florida’s Ninth Congressional District. In accordance with U.S. House of Representatives guidance, only organizations that qualify under section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code are included on this list.

Florida 2-1-1 is a free information and referral service to locate assistance for a wide range of services, including those related to basic needs, legal services, employment, education, health care, and more.

Immigration Assistance
U.S. Department of Justice Pro Bono Legal Services
The Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), Office of Policy, Public Resources Program (PRP) administers the List of Pro Bono Legal Service Providers or the “List." The List is provided to individuals in immigration proceedings and contains information on non-profit organizations and attorneys who have committed to providing at least 50 hours per year of pro bono legal services before the immigration court location where they appear on the List. The List also contains information on pro bono referral services that refer individuals in immigration court proceedings to pro bono counsel.

Kingdom Culture Immigrant Services (KCIS)
KCIS is an agency that provides legal immigration services recognized and accredited by the US Department of Justice (DOJ- R&A) to practice Immigration law and represent clients before the National Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Kids in Need of Defense (KIND)
Works to protect unaccompanied refugee and migrant children by providing legal representation for children in their immigration proceedings. KIND’s social services program ensures that migrant and refugee children receive counseling, educational support, medical care, and other comprehensive services. Orlando Center for Justice, Inc.
Orlando Center for Justice, Inc. provides legal services for those who make too much to qualify for legal aid, but not enough to afford a private attorney. Services are provided pro bono and at a low cost to clients. Current practice areas include family immigration and deportation defense, wills and small business incorporation.

Catholic Charities of Central Florida provides access to affordable immigration legal services and assists immigrants and refugees who seek to begin a new life in the United States and Central Florida through employment, education, case management and youth mentoring programs. These services are provided by Comprehensive Refugee Services and Immigration Legal Services.

Hope CommUnity Center
Hope CommUnity Center offers citizenship preparation classes to lawful permanent residents of the U.S. in HCC’s Pathways to Citizenship program. They also provide Legal Immigration Services and are recognized by the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Legal Access Programs.

Legal Assistance
The Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association, Inc.
The Legal Aid Society opened its doors in the early 1960s as a volunteer organization created by attorneys who were members of the Orange County Bar Association. These volunteer attorneys agreed to take referrals in civil and criminal cases for local residents who could not afford an attorney. In 1967, the organization was formally incorporated in Florida as a nonprofit organization under the name “Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association, Inc.”

Catholic Charities of Central Florida
Immigration Legal Services provides low-cost legal representation to all individuals regardless of background, race, religion, country of origin, or ability to pay. Their priority is to serve mainly low-income and indigent foreign-born individuals and their families.

Heart of Florida Legal Aid
Heart of Florida Legal Aid Society was founded in 1968 with a mission to work collaboratively with donors, clients, and partner programs to protect survivors of domestic violence, promote economic self-sufficiency in our communities, and foster stability for low-income families through quality and strategic legal advocacy. Heart of Florida Legal Aid Society is a nonprofit law firm providing free civil legal assistance to low-income communities and individuals in the Tenth Judicial Circuit of Florida. Their service area covers Polk County.

Housing Assistance
United Way of Central Florida
United Way of Central Florida’s mission is to inspire the community to give, advocate, and volunteer by identifying needs and mobilizing vetted resources to create positive, local change. They envision a united community where all are empowered to achieve their fullest potential. Annually, the United Way of Central Florida and their partner agencies provide UWCF-funded services to more than 153,000 individuals in Central Florida.

Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida
Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida was formed in 1987 by a group of concerned citizens who noted a growing problem of homelessness in our community. They are a short-term residential shelter focused on housing, emergency services, and diversion. They help families and individuals return to stable, permanent homes as quickly as possible.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando and Osceola County
Habitat for Humanity offers a wide range of free programs and services to help you set and achieve your financial and housing goals. Their Homeownership Program sells homes with stable mortgages to local families, while their Home Preservation Program works to keep homeowners in their homes.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida provides meals and hope across Brevard, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties, thanks to a community working together to nourish lives. Search for food pantries here.

Meals on Wheels Osceola County (Osceola Council on Aging)
Meals on Wheels Osceola provides meal delivery services to seniors who are unable to prepare their own food, especially the frail elderly who are confined to their homes. Referrals are often made by healthcare providers, social services agencies, family members, or concerned citizens.
