Today, U.S. Congressman Darren Soto (FL-09) released a Congressional Report on the high prices of diabetes drugs for seniors and the uninsured and the adverse impact on Florida's Ninth District. Findings from the report show that because Medicare is not allowed to negotiate drug prices, the costs to Medicare in the District are over three times higher than in the United Kingdom, nearly five times higher than Australia, and over twice as high as in Canada.

Darren Soto (FL-09) announced that the Primary Care Medical Services of Poinciana will receive an additional $300,000 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to support the Title X Family Planning Services Program at Osceola Community Health Services. The funds will help vulnerable populations in the area who rely on affordable, accessible family planning programs.

Today, U.S. Representative Darren Soto (FL-09) and Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González-Colón (PR-at-large) introduced H.R.1965 Puerto Rico Admission Act of 2019, legislation for admission of the territory of Puerto Rico as a state of the union. This is the first ever direct Statehood admissions bill, allowing Puerto Rico full civil rights and equal footing with other states 90 days after enactment.
