2020 U.S. Census Townhall

Thursday, May 30, 2019 - 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Join U.S. Congressman Darren Soto, in conjunction with NALEO, for a Town Hall in Orlando to discuss the upcoming 2020 U.S. Census and the current threats to an accurate population count.

Data collected from the upcoming 2020 U.S. Census will determine the federal resources and local funding allocated to our region, as well as the makeup of Congressional representation for years to come. The accuracy of the 2020 Census will affect our community's daily lives through a wide range of decisions, such as where to build new schools, which roads and other infrastructure projects are prioritized, and funds for a number of other public facilities.

That's why it's critical that the Census Bureau have an accurate count of our population. Yet, there's been a number of factors that threaten the quality of the Census, including the addition of an untested Citizenship question and uncertainty about the agency's budget. In order for Florida to receive it's fair allocation share, we must make sure the Census Bureau do everything in its power to count our diverse population accurately.

The event is open to the general public. Come learn more about the issues, how it affects you, and how you can get involved.
