Affordable Housing

As Central Florida continues to grow, creating affordable housing opportunities remains a top priority for Congressman Soto. Thanks to federal Community Project funds, Low Income Housing Credits, American Rescue Plan funds, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grants, and other sources, Congressman Soto has helped secure over $133 million for Central Florida affordable housing.

During the 119th Congress, Congressman Soto proudly voted for the bipartisan 21st Century Road to Housing Act, which restricts institutional investors from purchasing single-family homes, improves VA and First-Time Home Buyer programs, streamlines small affordable housing projects, encourages more inclusive zoning, and includes manufactured homes in U.S. HUD programs.

In addition, Congressman Soto introduced the Protect Our Homes Act to establish a loan program within the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to help communities repair residential common areas after natural disasters and/or protect property from future disasters. This includes low-cost loans to Condominium, Townhome, and Homeowners Associations. The bill may also reduce costly special assessments for homeowners over the long term.
