Soto visits Engelwood Elementary School

Thursday, February 1, 2018 - 11:00am

On Thursday, February 1, 2018, Congressman Darren Soto and his wife, Amanda, toured Englewood Elementary School in East Orlando. Principal Alex Reyes walked the Congressman through the school highlighting the students’ work. Rep. Soto was thrilled to meet teachers, staff, and administrators, all doing splendid work on behalf of the students.

The Sotos spoke with students and teachers, and learned more about the lessons, activities, and projects they are working on. One very impressive initiative was a school-wide recycling program started by the Student Body President and Vice President. The visit ended with Congressman Soto and Mrs. Soto recording a video-message for all students, directly produced and coordinated by students in the media production class.

Englewood students were bright, inquisitive, and demonstrated a tremendous drive for learning. Congressman Soto delivered a variety of books from the Library of Congress for the students. Florida’s 9th Congressional District is lucky to have such innovative, creative, and caring students in our district – they are next generation of leaders!
