Cassidy-Graham “Trumpcare 2.0” Bill Hurts Americans
Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Soto expressed opposition to Republicans’ latest Trumpcare legislation, which the Senate GOP hopes to rush to a vote next week. The Cassidy-Graham bill would likely lead to greater numbers of uninsured after 2026 and a new state-by-state report shows that the plan would rob $17 billion from Floridian’s health care by 2027 alone.
“The American people made their voices heard when they overwhelmingly rejected Trumpcare just a few months ago,” said Rep. Soto “We have worked too hard to expand access to health care for it to be threatened away by another terrible, partisan proposal. Republicans should be working with Democrats on productive, bipartisan action to stabilize the insurance marketplaces and drive down costs for families.”
“I stand with the people of Florida to protect health care access and keeping it affordable for our veterans, seniors, women, working families, people with pre-existing conditions and rural communities,” concluded Rep. Soto.
The extreme Graham-Cassidy version of Trumpcare would rip away the promise of affordable quality health care in America, creating devastating consequences for American families including:
- Higher Costs, Less Coverage – Trumpcare forces families to pay much higher out-of-pocket health care costs, including deductibles. Trumpcare will take away some or all health care from tens of millions of hard-working Americans.
- Key Protections Gutted – Trumpcare would gut key protections for people with pre-existing conditions, destroy essential health benefits, and reinstate the dreaded lifetime and annual limits on care.
- A Crushing Age Tax – Trumpcare exposes older Americans to higher premiums than what others pay for health coverage, no matter how healthy they are.
- Stealing from Medicaid – Trumpcare ransacks funds that seniors depend on to get the long-term care they need.
