Rep. Soto Announces Michelle Martinez as District Director for FL-09

Kissimmee, FL U.S. Representative Darren Soto (FL-09) named Michelle Martinez as the new District Director for Florida's 9th Congressional District. Martinez previously served as Campaign Manager for Rep. Soto's re-election campaign in 2018.

Michelle is a bilingual professional from Puerto Rico who grew up in Central Florida and understands our district well. With years of experience in Florida politics, as well as a deep ties to our community, Michelle is well-positioned to serve our constituents and lead our district team. From Orlando, to Kissimmee, to our three offices in Polk County, Michelle joins a dedicated team throughout Florida's 9th District committed to providing exceptional constituent services."

Background: Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Orlando, Michelle Martinez graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Political Science and French. Michelle began working in electoral politics as an organizer for John Kerry in 2004 after which she was trained in political fundraising by EMILY's List. As a fundraiser, she has worked in different capacities across the United States and in South America. In Colombia, she worked with the International Organization for Migration on a project aimed at aiding their internally displaced population. In the U.S., Michelle served as Finance Director on various campaigns across the country, consulted and served as finance trainer for the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, and served as Finance Director for the Florida Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee. Most recently, in 2018, she ran the successful re-election campaign for Congressman Darren Soto in Florida's 9th Congressional District.
