Rep. Soto’s Statement on Administration Recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital

December 6, 2017

Washington, D.C. U.S. Congressman Darren Soto released the following statement today following the Trump Administration's decision to formally recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel:

"The United States has traditionally located our embassies in nations' capitals. Accordingly, our U.S. Embassy should ultimately be in Jerusalem, the Capital of Israel. I do remain concerned, though, about the timing and abrupt manner of this announcement. Over the long term, we must continue to be deeply committed to the peace process and a two-state solution for the Jewish and Palestinian peoples."
