Rep. Soto Statement on Trump-Putin Helsinki Summit
July 17, 2018
U.S. Congressman Darren Soto released the following statement following President Trump's joint press conference with President Putin, in which he refused to hold Russia accountable for hacking the 2016 U.S. elections:
"President Trump sided with Putin –a murderous Russian dictator who meddled in our last elections– rather than standing with our U.S. Intelligence. Not only did the president praise Putin as an ally, he alienated our long-standing allies all across Europe last week. President Trump has shown weakness and is doing lasting damage to America's standing around the world.
"I urge my GOP colleagues to join us in roundly condemning this capitulation to a belligerent foreign power over America's democracy."
