Soto Opposes Border Wall Funding, Lack of Support for Dreamers in FY18 Omnibus

March 22, 2018

Washington, D.C. Today, U.S. Representative Darren Soto released the following statement on the passage of the Omnibus Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2018:

"This spending bill leaves DREAMers behind, while putting $1.6 billion towards Trump's divisive and unnecessary border wall and hundreds of millions more to deport their parents. Most Americans agree that we need a permanent solution for DREAMers and better technology to secure our borders, not a useless wall.

"Yesterday we saw a historic Student Body Presidential Election at the University of Central Florida where two DREAMers, Karen Caudillo and Josh Boloña, ran on platforms of justice, opportunity and equality. And so did I. As such, I cannot support legislation that abandons these inspiring young people during their hour of need. Now is the time to stand up and fight for the dream of Karen, Josh, and millions of other DREAMers across this land!"
