Soto Votes to Pass Legislation to Provide Additional Coronavirus Relief

April 24, 2020

The bill includes more funding for free testing, hospitals, Paycheck Protection Program, etc.

Rep. Darren Soto (FL-09) released the following statement after the passage of an interim bill to provide additional funding to small businesses, hospitals and coronavirus testing efforts:

"Today's bill is a critical step forward in ensuring COVID-19 testing for Americans who need it, and desperately needed resources for our local hospitals. Central Florida small businesses also get the funding they urgently need to stay afloat and keep their workers on payroll. Not to mention, the legislation contains provisions to provide women, minority and veteran-owned businesses, as well as unbanked and rural businesses, greater access to relief programs.

Future legislation must provide more funding to Central Florida for healthcare workers and first responders, for the unemployed and small businesses, for struggling homeowners, veterans, farmers and students, and to protect communities of color, as well as to provide help to our fellow Americans in Puerto Rico and more. Together, we can defeat coronavirus and return to health and economic prosperity."
