WASHINGTON, D.C.- U.S. Representative Darren Soto (FL-09) is pleased to announce the passage of legislation that will add two additional Hurricane Hunter aircraft to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) fleet. The provision was included in the Weather Research and Forecasting Innovation Act of 2017. Congressman Soto worked closely with Senator Bill Nelson to include the language in the bill (Section 413 - Ensuring the Reliability of Our Hurricane Hunter Aircraft Act).

This trip helps fulfills one of his first-term priorities of making sure Florida's warfighters in the field are receiving the support they need from Congress to execute their missions.

Over the last 11 years, the University of Central Florida's "Direct Connect" program has fulfilled this promise for hundreds of thousands of students from community colleges across Florida, and 35,000 more students are currently in the pipeline.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-U.S Representatives Stephanie Murphy (FL-07) and Darren Soto (FL-09) applauded a provision in the 2017 defense appropriations bill that is intended to provide $3 million in new funding for the University of Central Florida's (UCF) RESTORES Clinic, which uses virtual reality to treat military service members, veterans and first responders with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The funding is in the advanced concepts and simulation budget – now increased from $27.688 million to $30.688 million – within the U.S.
