Today, Rep. Darren Soto (FL-09) announced his first ever "Valentines for Vets" initiative, a program in which elementary school students from all around his district are encouraged to write Valentine's Day cards for veterans. The cards will be hand delivered by the Congressman on Valentine's Day to the Lake Nona VA Medical Center.

Last Friday, Rep. Darren Soto (FL-09) led Members of the Florida Congressional delegation in sending a letter to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Peter Gaynor, urging the agency to work with the Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide transitional or affordable housing for Puerto Ricans arriving in Florida. The letter comes after the Hispanic Federation informed Rep. Soto's office that 150 evacuee families from Puerto Rico were in need of housing in his district.
Yesterday, at his Climate Change Town Hall, Rep. Darren Soto (FL-09) unveiled the legislative framework of the draft Climate Leadership and Environmental Action for our Nation's (CLEAN) Future Act – an ambitious new climate plan to ensure the United States achieves net-zero greenhouse gas pollution no later than 2050. Today, U.S. Representative Darren Soto (FL-09) surveyed damage and met with victims, as well as government officials in several Puerto Rican cities. Representative Soto met with Puerto Rico's Senate Majority Leader Carmelo Rios, along with Puerto Rican Senators Bhatia, Villafañe, and Dalmau who viewed damages in Ponce, Peñuelas, and Guayanilla shortly after another 5.9 magnitude earthquake shook the island.
