In honor of Women's History Month 2018, U.S. Congressman Darren Soto recognized 19 women in Central Florida for their invaluable contributions to the community. The honorees' biographies were read into the Congressional Record by Rep. Soto and they will receive official Congressional Certificates.
In honor of Black History Month 2018, U.S. Congressman Darren Soto recognized 16 individuals in Central Florida for their invaluable contributions to the community. On Wednesday, February 21st, Congressman Darren Soto attended the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority Board Meeting to share his opposition to privatizing Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Board members and attendees also spoke about the need to decrease wait times at the Orlando International Airport while ensuring passenger safety and security.
U.S. Immigration Attorneys Shahzad Ahmed, Esq. and Rosa Melia-Acevedo, Esq. from NeJame Law, along with U.S.Congressman Darren Soto, will host a town hall to discuss the most pressing questions in the immigration debate.
Topics will include: DACA, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), travel ban, extreme vetting, family migration, new immigration policies, Homeland Security issues, and more.

On Tuesday, February 14th, Congressman Soto joined the Congressional Hispanic Caucus in a meeting with Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations at the United States Army Corps, Major General Donald Jackson, Jr., to discuss the recovery efforts for Puerto Rico.
Major Jackson provided an update on the missions that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has directed the Army Corps to lead, including: debris removal, Operation Blue Roof, and emergency power operations.

On Thursday, February 1, 2018, Congressman Darren Soto and his wife, Amanda, toured Englewood Elementary School in East Orlando. Principal Alex Reyes walked the Congressman through the school highlighting the students' work. Rep. Soto was thrilled to meet teachers, staff, and administrators, all doing splendid work on behalf of the students.
On the evening of Friday. January 26, 2018, Congressman Soto hosted an event to congratulate the Service Academy Nominees of Florida's Ninth District. The individuals represent a diverse group that all have their sights set on the various academies including the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
On Tuesday, January 16th Congressman Darren Soto visited the Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association (CFHLA) Career Fair. The Career Fair offered the community the chance to explore employment opportunities in Central Florida's hospitality and tourism industries. While there, Rep. Soto met with CFHLA President and CEO, Rich Maladecki. President Maladecki introduced the Congressman to several coorporations and businesses in attendance, who are looking to employ Central Floridians.
