Reps. Soto, Shalala, Gonzalez-Colon, Murphy Introduce Bipartisan Legislation to Expand Medicare Part D Low -Income Subsidies to Residents of Puerto Rico and other U.S. Territories
Kissimmee, FL – In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month 2019, U.S. Congressman Darren Soto will hold a ceremony recognizing ten individuals from Florida's Ninth District on their impact and contributions to the Hispanic community. Darren Soto (FL-09) announced that Osceola County will receive approximately $360,000 in federal grants from the U.S. Department of Justice to support initiatives that improve the criminal justice system through the Body Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program and the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Program.

Darren Soto (FL-09), led a bicameral group of colleagues in sending a letter to the Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requesting the publication of a Federal Register Notice (FRN) detailing the requirements for the disbursement of disaster recovery funds appropriated for Puerto Rico and the U.S.
Today, U.S. Representatives Darren Soto (FL-09), Charlie Crist (FL-13), Gus Bilirakis (FL-12), and Debbie Dingell (MI-12) introduced bipartisan and bicameral legislation that supports the approximately 1.3 million adults, mostly seniors and people with disabilities, who are currently under the care of guardians, by enacting protections from the risks of abuse or neglect.
