Washington, D.C. U.S. Representative Darren Soto, along with Members of the Florida Delegation, sent letters urging the House Appropriations Committee and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to fully fund the Host-State Agreement with Florida. The FEMA/Host-State Agreement provides direct reimbursement to the state of Florida for costs associated with evacuation and shelter support for Puerto Rican evacuees.

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representatives Al Lawson and Darren Soto, members of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee, sent a letter to Gov. Rick Scott asking his administration to consider the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma on Florida's economy and the most vulnerable of constituents, by extending the temporary lift of time limits placed on the benefits of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients.

Washington, D.C. –U.S. Representative Darren Soto spoke on the House floor yesterday calling on the "Freedom Caucus" and other fiscally-conservative Republicans to reject the tax giveaway for billionaires, which will add $1.5 trillion to the deficit in just the first 10 years. On the House Floor, Rep. Soto reiterated that 7 years of a Republican Congress has added $7 Trillion in national debt, going against the Caucus' promise to eliminate deficit.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Darren Soto authored a letter to the U.S. Department of the Interior requesting an investigation into the $300 million contract awarded to Montana firm Whitefish Energy to repair Puerto Rico's electrical infrastructure. The letter was supported by seven additional Members of Congress, calling into question Whitefish's inexperience and ties to the Trump Administration.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Darren Soto introduced legislation today honoring the 65th Infantry Regiment, known as the Borinqueneers, by designating a United States Postal Service facility in Kissimmee, Florida as the "Borinqueneers Post Office Building". The bill is co-sponsored by Florida's entire congressional delegation.

WASHINGTON – Central Florida Representatives Stephanie Murphy, Val Demings and Darren Soto, today announced that the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has awarded a nearly $12 million grant to the Florida Department of Transportation, MetroPlan Orlando, and the University of Central Florida to jointly develop "intelligent transportation technologies" that will be used to make transportation safer and more accessible for drivers, transit riders, pedestrians, and bicyclists in the Orlando area.
